Hi, I am Olivia
Project manager and parent. An expat residing in Toronto, Canada.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new life chapter overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Canada wasn’t in the original plan. Like many international relocations, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The early weeks were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and lots of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Spruce Grain Parcel
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level travel content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Canada.
What This Site Represents (And What It Does Not)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in Canada
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A platform for sponsored critiques
- A generic travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Canada goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue to document our discoveries.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Olivia
